T.I.A.R.A. Code of Ethics:

TIARA member companies are committed to being good neighbors. We work to avert potential problems and to ensure that developing problems are resolved. We have implemented and pledge to adhere to our “Good Neighbor Program” as outlined below.

TIARA’s Mission is to protect and promote the vacation rental industry on Tybee Island by adhering to the following guidelines:

1. Work to improve the relationship between renters and property owners.
2. Work with property owner associations and Tybee residents to be good neighbors and to conduct responsible business practices.
3. Work with city officials and politicians to improve services and communication on Tybee Island.
4. Endeavor to eliminate any practices in the community that could be damaging to the public or could bring discredit to the vacation rental industry.
5. Educate Tybee citizens, city officials, and politicians about the benefits of vacation rentals.

  As members of TIARA, we agree to:

  • Abide by and inform all renters of the TIARA “Guest Code of Conduct.”
  • Ensure that all renters are aware of Tybee city rules, TIARA rules, state and county rules, and applicable subdivision rules that may be unfamiliar to them.
  • Rigorously enforce noise, occupancy, parking, age and parking restrictions through staff and local law enforcement personnel.
  • Issue parking passes to renters based on available parking spaces at rental property
  • Meet the 30-minute (maximum) response time when notified of a problem at a rental property.
  • Ensure that all renters receive and sign the Renters Code of Conduct at or before check in.
  • Ensure the consistent use of forms that record the following information: Renters Code of Conduct and Parking Passes.
  • Ensure that each rental property has adequate trash cans to handle seasonal trash amounts and inform all renters of trash collection days and procedures. Promptly roll-in trash cans after pick-up according to Tybee code.
  • Post the TIARA “Guest Code of Conduct” on my company’s website and in rental property.
  • Encourage professionalism within our industry: Scrupulously abide by all state and local laws and regulations which govern vacation rentals and the ethical conduct of the vacation rental industry. Remit Hotel/Motel tax payments on time. Pay property owners in a timely manner.
  • Agree to abide by the TIARA Membership Agreement.
  • Acknowledge that we are collectively working to enhance the quality of life for all Tybee Island residents and visitors and to assist in the promotion of the Tybee Island tourism and vacation rental industry.
